2020 Spring Break

Knoxville, TN

Knoxville is the third largest city in Tennessee, and home to the University of Tennessee, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and the Everly Brothers. It is also the home of the Burwell Gardens, found in the Oakwood-Lincoln Park Neighborhood.

Created for “growing food & relationships,” the Burwell Gardens have a desire for everyone in the community to have a greater sense of wholeness in their lives. The Oakwood-Lincoln Park Neighborhood has an average income of roughly half of that for the rest of the state, higher property values and in some areas is considered a food desert. With a lack of access to fresh, healthy food, the Burwell Gardens strives to be a place of empowerment for community members to grow their own food, a place where relationships with neighbors can develop and a place where souls can find rest through the beauty and nature of gardening.

Join us as we work with community members and learn what it means to cultivate relationships where we are and how we are able.
