2018 Spring Break

Warm Springs, OR

There is a group of people that are known as the “lost people” of the United States. Those who have been pushed aside, marginalized, under resourced, and simply forgotten. Where the high school dropout rates are double the national average, the suicide rate is 3 times the national average, and the poverty rates are 4.5 times higher than the national rate.

This is life at the Warm Springs Native American Reservation in Oregon. We will be entering this story to learn about the history of the Warm Springs people, and how we can partner with them. We will learn about tribal culture, the struggles facing rural families and what it means to be a forgotten people. It will be a trip that few people get to experience and one that will stay with you long after we return to New England.
